Jeep is releasing 5,800 units of its new Wrangler 4xe Backcountry for North America. The model builds on the Wrangler 4xe Sahara with additional off-road equipment and luxury features.
The Backcountry comes with steel bumpers front and rear, plus rock rails and a Mopar grille guard. Its 20-inch wheels wear General Grabber all-terrain tires measuring 32 inches. Black decals on the hood, fenders and swing gate identify this special edition.
A front-mounted camera helps drivers navigate obstacles, while pre-wired switches simplify adding accessories. The model includes a towing package and the Jeep Power Box - a system that converts the hybrid battery's power for running small appliances at campsites.
Inside, a 12.3-inch screen runs Jeep's Uconnect 5 system. GPS navigation includes trail guides through Trails Offroad, with a subscription option offering access to over 3,000 routes. The nine-speaker Alpine audio system and Wi-Fi capability add comfort for longer trips.
"This model combines off-road capability with modern features our customers want", says Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf. "From trail navigation to campsite power, we've focused on practical additions".
The plug-in hybrid powertrain remains unchanged from the standard 4xe, allowing for electric-only operation when desired. Dealers are taking orders now at $64,290.
