Milan Fashion Week - In a dimly lit gymnasium covered in sand, Luca Magliano presented his Fall/Winter 2025 collection against the haunting musical score of Berlin composer Aase Nielsen. The show transported viewers to the deserted winter beaches of Italy's Adriatic coast, where Magliano spent his youth.
The designer drew from his hometown's off-season atmosphere - when tourists depart and the beachfront transforms into a different world. "Sea, night, winter: a legendary threesome", Magliano explained, describing the collection's inspiration.
The clothes themselves reflected a calculated dishevelment. Models wore cotton-ribbed jackets with misaligned buttons that created irregular silhouettes. In collaboration with Milan's Medea, handbags appeared wrapped in underwear. Layers competed for attention - skirts revealed undergarments, multiple belts wrapped around waists, and t-shirts knotted over coats. Technical trousers with punched holes paired with tight leg warmers in an intentional clash of textures.
The show marked the debut of "Nudo By Magliano", a new basics-focused line featuring fleece and cotton outerwear. "A precious refuge from the chaos around," the designer noted about this more subdued offering.
While most pieces embraced the collection's darker themes, select knitwear items incorporated Swarovski crystals - though even these luminous elements maintained the moody aesthetic. As Magliano put it: "Brilliance is a dusty and worn-out matter."
The collection suggested a narrative about seaside towns in winter, when familiar holiday destinations become unrecognizable after sunset. Through carefully constructed disorder and layered silhouettes, Magliano captured that distinctive atmosphere of off-season resort life - quiet, mysterious, and slightly dangerous.
