BMW has released details of its enhanced iX lineup, headlined by the new iX M70 xDrive that pushes the brand's electric performance boundaries with 659 horsepower. The model maintains BMW's signature "Sports Activity Vehicle" philosophy while setting new benchmarks for the company's electric range.
The M70 xDrive harnesses dual electric motors to achieve 0-62 mph sprints in 3.8 seconds. BMW's engineering team has fitted the model with a 108.9 kWh battery, enabling drivers to cover up to 373 miles between charges according to WLTP testing. The charging system accepts up to 195 kW through DC fast charging stations.
Under the skin, the M70 xDrive receives specific chassis tuning, including adaptive suspension and Integral Active Steering. These systems work together to balance the vehicle's considerable power output with day-to-day usability.
Visual changes mark out the M70 xDrive from its siblings. The front features a revised kidney grille wearing an M badge, while black mirror caps and model-specific 22-inch M light-alloy wheels complete the performance-focused appearance. The lighting units adopt a darkened finish through the M Shadow Line treatment.
Inside, BMW has updated the iX's technology suite with Operating System 8.5, adding video streaming and gaming capabilities alongside the usual infotainment functions. The driver assistance package includes Highway Assistant and Parking Assistant Professional.
The rest of the iX range - comprising the xDrive45 and xDrive60 models - also receives updates focused on increasing range and power output. BMW dealers can provide specific pricing and delivery information for all models in the revised lineup.
