1. Introduce Yourself to the Casawi Community: What drives you? What's your artistic vision, and what sets you apart from the crowd?

I’m a handcrafting artist and designer from Amsterdam. I love working with different materials to create forms and shapes, whether it’s ceramic sculptures, jewelry, or clothing. My process is very intuitive and organic. I see it as a way of translating my inner world into something tangible.

I believe that my curiosity makes me a true autodidact. I enjoy researching and collecting information from my surroundings, but I also love adding different perspectives by learning directly from others. That’s why I seek out 1:1 experiences with teachers and artists in the places I find myself in. I have a very nomadic way of living and that really shapes my work, it’s always flowing sensually, influenced by the environments I’m surrounded by.

2. City Inspirations: How has your city influenced your artistic path? Share how its streets, culture, and energy have molded your work.

I’m very lucky to feel supported by my amazing creative support system. Two summers ago my dear friend Cleo decided to start her creative collective, MOAI, where our friend group monthly get together and exchange ideas, resources, inspiration, personal wins, but also challenges and setbacks. These sessions really made me realize how crucial a community is, and in a vibrant city like Amsterdam, we need to take the time to have these kinda sessions. Amsterdam definitely shaped my work ethic, grounded me, but it also allowed me to understand that my best work doesn’t come from fast-lane environments.

3. Creative Process: What fuels your creativity? Whether it's a ritual, a muse, or a moment of clarity, we're keen to learn.

Meditating, journaling, listening/dancing to music and being in nature in solitude. My creativity comes mostly from being in a state of contentment. I want to communicate my messages through crafting, and that channel needs to be clear. I love being playful, I’m always trying to listen to my inner child as she is my biggest muse and inspiration. Creating should be like a playground, free from external validation. I need to fall in love with it first.

I believe the receiver feels what you put in your craft. Creating is meditative for me and my pieces are a reflection of every experience and concept I’m adopting.

4. City Lifestyle and Art: How the places you lived influenced your career and work?

Although I’m based in Amsterdam, I’m always on the move, living in different places. The thrill of being in a new environment inspires me deeply. I love exploring, learning different techniques and gaining new perspectives from different cultures and teachers. It’s the brief encounters that inspire me too , whether it’s chatting with a store owner or just people on the street.

I’m a very receptive and sensitive person and I absorb everything I’m surrounded with intensely. So despise my impulsive nature, I’m intentional about where I choose to lay my head. I believe everything around me is a reflection of me and also the other way around, so I try to surround myself with things that match the energy I want to have in my life. With these intentions I set goals and focus points for that period. I did notice a pattern in the destinations I gravitate towards being very passionate, romantic, slow/conscious, and connected to feminine sensuality. I think this really ties back to my own identity.

5. Latest or Upcoming Projects: Give us a glimpse into your current endeavors and what lies ahead on your creative journey.

I’m currently working from Mexico City where I’m focusing on handcrafting ceramic sculptures at an open studio. Next to that, I’m about to drop a silver craft earring collection which will be online on the new website. This upcoming year I plan to schedule more pop-ups and exhibitions so that people can experience my work in its true physical form. I’ll be spending the next few months in both Mexico and Brazil to bring these plans to life. Starting the new year, my main focus will be combining the techniques I’ve learned recently and blending them together into new creations. I’ve spent the past year focusing on improving my skills and researching, so it feels like the perfect time to let my crafts come to fruition even more this year.
