Edoardo Abertini
1. Introduce Yourself to the Casawi Community: What drives you? What's your artistic vision, and what sets you apart from the crowd?
Hi my name is Edoardo Albertini, I’m 22 and I’m the creator of FoMo Studios. I’m currently studying management engineering at University of Bologna. What is driving me the most right now in my job is the desire and pride to see my ideas become material products and share them with the world trying to inspire people.
2. City Inspirations: How has your city influenced your artistic path? Share how its streets, culture, and energy have molded your work.
I was born in Ascoli Piceno, a small city in the center of Italy so I don’t think I got many inspiration from it. Fortunately during my childhood, since I’m an only child, I often had to invent a new game or a new way to spend my time and my fav thing to do was drawing, so I think that it is this strong passion I’ve had since when I was young that has improved a lot my creativity. I have always loved drawing but who could have ever imagined that one day, thanks to what helped me kill time as a child, I would have made my first completely hand drown Timbs?
Anyway I think that the town where I grew up hasn’t helped me a lot in my “artistic path” and it is proved by the fact that I actually started doing something creative as soon as I left to move for college.
3. Creative Process: What fuels your creativity? Whether it's a ritual, a muse, or a moment of clarity, we're keen to learn.
Literally everything, I don’t have any routine or any advice, if not living, meet people, see things and observe strangers and their personalities.
We can’t decide what makes us feel inspired and not. I think that even something “ugly”, whether it is aesthetically and/or emotionally, can deeply inspire us, often more than everything else.
Moreover, I think nowadays it’s fundamental to keep yourself updated with new trends, habits, etc through social media, indeed a big portion of my inspiration comes from other people, creators and artists. Obviously, while it is the best way to previously understand the next trends, it has its negative sides since it makes me use my phone a lot.
4. City Lifestyle and Art: How the places you lived influenced your career and work?
I think that the city you’re living in isn’t determinant for your career since, as I already said before, if you know how to properly use social media and you have the right ideas your talent will be recognized the same. But at the same time I think that the little city grew up in, had a strong impact in the way I see things and the world. This attitude of mine has been improved about 2 years ago when I moved to a big city which helped me open the eyes and see things from different perspectives; maybe is thanks to this that my project started, it started when i felt more free and I understood that in the world we are living, we must do what we like and don’t care about the others.
But mostly, I understood that you could also be the best, but if you design something iconic and you don’t show it to the world and nobody knows it, it is like if you didn’t do it, and, nowadays, social media are the best platform to show your creations.
I’ll do an example: before I posted my first custom timberland entirely hand drawn that went viral on instagram, neither some of my closest friends knew I was capable of recreate such drawings.
5. Latest or Upcoming Projects: Give us a glimpse into your current endeavors and what lies ahead on your creative journey.
I never look too much far, or better, I always try to focus on the present setting short-term goals.
So now, after a long and stressful period of work and study, I’m taking some time for me to recharge my energies and renew my ideas. I already have in my mind what’s next, I have 2 new products I would like to drop in the next future (hope I’ll make it with both of them). Furthermore I have 2 big names, asking to wear my caps, but I don’t tell you more, I don’t wanna spoiler anything and don’t wanna bring me bad luck. Moreover, I started to be in touch with some other creatives all over Italy, like Scianca and Leo donati, we are the same age and we support each other. I would like to deepen this connection and create more because in my opinion support and friendships are the best way to grow in each aspect, both from the personal point and artistic point of view.
