1. Introduce Yourself to the Casawi Community: What drives you? What's your artistic vision, and what sets you apart from the crowd?

My name is Gianni, I’m a Dj/Producer based in Los Angeles. What drives me is a deep passion for moving people and creating community. I’d say that what separates me is my focus on community. For me, being a community comes with a great responsibility to make people feel safe in the spaces we curate. I try to connect with everyone that pulls up to my shows on a personal level to let them know how much I appreciate their support and how important they are.

2. City Inspirations: How has your city influenced your artistic path? Share how its streets, culture, and energy have molded your work.

LA is a melting pot. This is the heartbeat of the entertainment industry. Music, fashion and film all live synonymously here. It creates for many parallels for the industries to cross-reference and collaborate. LA has opened my horizons into each of these industries and created a playground for all of them to exist and support each other.

3. Creative Process: What fuels your creativity? Whether it's a ritual, a muse, or a moment of clarity, we're keen to learn.

I’d say the thing that fuels my creativity is my travel. There’s something about going to a new country and learning about their culture that really inspires me. It’s easy to get stuck in the cycle of wherever your from and what they like. But when you go to a new place it takes you out of that bubble and gives you perspective. As a creative I take a lot of inspiration from these new places. Their fashion, their music, their food all fuel me.

4. City Lifestyle and Art: What characterizes clubbing and lifestyle in your city? How does your environment intersect with your art?

I grew up in a small city in Oregon as a kid, and all I wanted was to be in a big city like LA. Because I didn’t have much exposure to things I liked in my home state, I really studied things I liked on the internet and Tv. Shows like 106 and Park and MTV gave me the blueprint to what I liked. When I went to college on the east coast a lot of my friends put me on to what was Poppin’ where they were from.

5. Latest or Upcoming Projects: Give us a glimpse into your current endeavors and what lies ahead on your creative journey.

Right now, I’m focused on building the brand on a global level. I want to focus my efforts on the music I love. As a producer and DJ my love has always been R&B music, but I’m venturing into more global sounds such as house, dancehall, afrobeat, amapiano, and afro house. I’m also working on building community in spaces outside of the traditional club. Spaces like coffee shops, restaurants, and wellness communities.
