The London-based brand Miista has released the Nikoletta, a new sneaker that takes its design cues from the athletic footwear worn by boxers and football players in the 1980s.
Founded in 2011 in a Bethnal Green studio, Miista approaches sneaker design with an emphasis on skilled craftsmanship and quality materials rather than focusing solely on technological innovation. The brand maintains that advanced machinery can coexist with small-scale production methods.
Creative director Laura Villasenin explained the philosophy behind the brand: "We committed to never arriving. This commitment gives us the freedom to perfect our craft." She noted that the constant push for improvement in the industry motivates their experimental approach.
The Nikoletta features a low-profile design with details that reference vintage wrestling footwear, including a fold-over tongue and rubber outsole. Crafted entirely from goat leather, the sneaker includes contrast leather side panels and comes in three color options: solid black, brown with navy accents, and black with white details.
Priced at $415 USD, the Nikoletta is available for purchase through Miista's website and at their New York flagship store. Check out the shoes in the gallery above, and stay tuned to Casawi Magazine for more updates.
