The Cloud Tee appears unremarkable at first glance, but step into sunlight and UV rays trigger a color-changing reaction across the fabric, revealing a detailed print of blue skies dotted with white clouds. The design echoes the cover art of Fred again..'s recent album "ten days," which features similar celestial imagery.
This release adds to MSCHF's portfolio of attention-catching products, following their Samsung Galaxy Mystery Box collaboration and Hot Wheels "Not Wheels" Car launch in late summer 2023. The collective previously created waves with items like their Big Red Boot, which became a social media phenomenon early last year.
UV-reactive clothing isn't new to fashion - the technology has been used in everything from swimwear to sneakers. However, MSCHF's implementation creates an element of surprise, turning a basic wardrobe staple into an interactive piece.
The t-shirt is manufactured using specialized UV-sensitive dyes that remain invisible until exposed to sunlight. The process allows for the detailed sky pattern to emerge gradually, creating a transformation effect as the wearer moves between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The Cloud Tee will be available through cloud-tee.com and mschfxfredagain.com starting October 29 at 12 PM EST, priced at $80.
