Patta
They are the voice of a community that has emerged from the shadows. And in 2023, Patta celebrates an important milestone: 20 years as a spokesperson for the most real streetwear.
That distant 2004 saw the birth of what on the surface seemed just a humble shoe store. But for insiders, the little brick outpost soon became a landmark. It was a happy island away from the mainstream lights. There, they could cultivate and celebrate their passion for street style.
Over the next two decades, Patta established itself as much more than just a retailer. A true cultural catalyst, a haven in which to breathe the rawest and most visceral essence of streetwear culture and the hip-hop scene.
It is to celebrate this milestone that the Dutch brand is preparing to launch an ambitious and avant-garde project: Patta Magazine. It will be the first publication entirely dedicated to giving voice to the many facets of this seething underground.
The glossy pages of the fledgling paper creature open like a window to a parallel world, that of the back lanes forgotten by the radar. Here the stories, faces and thoughts of those who have always shaped the identity of this vibrant community will find a home.
From raw artists to neighborhood activists to independent designers and ordinary enthusiasts. All will have the chance to express themselves without filters. They will share their unique and real vision of the urban undergrowth.
The operation was not born out of vanity or self-aggrandizement.It was born from a desire to stimulate dialogue. It aimed to increase understanding and strengthen the identity of this wide and diverse network.
After all, this has always been Patta's mission. It's not just a place of commerce, but a true crossroads of cultures. They are united by the same, insatiable passion for street style. And now, the iconic neon sign is about to turn 20. The voice away from the spotlight will be heard even louder. It will shout its underdog story to the world.
