This collaboration was hinted at a few weeks ago when Bembury teased about a new partnership with PUMA. The brand has now confirmed that Bembury will be instrumental in shaping the future of PUMA Hoops.
In addition to designing a signature shoe, Bembury will also assist in the recruitment of a new athlete to join PUMA’s current Hoops roster, which includes LaMelo Ball, Scoot Henderson, Flau’Jae Johnson, and Breanna Stewart. The press release suggests that Bembury’s unique design language could potentially redefine the aesthetic of the entire Hoops line, reminiscent of Jerry Lorenzo’s recent influence on adidas Basketball.
Bembury shared his excitement about this partnership, stating, "My designs are a platform for storytelling and cultivating community; an opportunity to breathe new meaning into a product. As a ’90s kid from New York City, I’ve played basketball my whole life and have a deep history, emotion and nostalgia for the sport. I’m excited to leverage this collaboration as a catalyst to introduce an untold side of me and engage a new community.”
Fans are eagerly awaiting more news about this collaboration, including which athlete will be signed next and a first look at Bembury’s work with PUMA.
In a related story, Bembury recently posted a photo on Instagram, standing on the tarmac next to his private jet, holding a sign that read, “TOP SECRET PUMA IDEAS.” This sparked speculation about a potential project or collaboration with PUMA. When asked about his ongoing relationship with New Balance, Bembury assured fans that there is “Much more” to come. He also addressed a question about working with multiple brands simultaneously, attributing his success to “Sturdy contracts and sound communication.” As of now, the details of the next collaboration remain a mystery. Other celebrities who have previously partnered with PUMA include Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. Stay tuned for more updates.
