1. Introduce Yourself to the Casawi Community: What drives you? What's your artistic vision, and what sets you apart from the crowd?
My name is Romina Puga, and I’m a fashion designer and stylist based in Barcelona. I feel lucky to have collaborated with various brands and to have started my own label, Anemone. What inspires me most is the ability of fashion to tell meaningful stories and create emotional connections. My artistic vision focuses on sustainability, careful craftsmanship, and exploring the limits of traditional silhouettes and beauty standards. I strive to combine haute couture techniques, like moulage and corsetry, with a bold yet approachable contemporary aesthetic.
2. City Inspirations: How has your city influenced your artistic path? Share how its streets, culture, and energy have molded your work.
Barcelona is a city that radiates art and creativity at every corner. Its artistic scene, from contemporary galleries to street performances or parties, constantly inspires me. The city’s mix of historical landmarks, dynamic street culture, and creative energy creates an ideal environment for experimentation. Walking through its streets, I’m inspired by the contrast of old and new, organic and structured elements. This energy has shaped my work, driving me to create designs that feel both innovative and timeless while reflecting the city’s unique character.
3. Creative Process: What fuels your creativity? Whether it's a ritual, a muse, or a moment of clarity, we're keen to learn.
My creative process often begins with research, observation, and the gathering of information. I find inspiration in art, music, and personal experiences. I’m also deeply fascinated by textures and how materials can evoke emotions and tell stories. Sketching and experimenting with fabrics and silhouettes are rituals that anchor my process. Music, photography, and movement are also essential; they help me translate emotions into designs, giving each piece its own rhythm and identity.
4. City Lifestyle and Art: How the places you lived influenced your career and work?
Living in Lima and Barcelona, the cities where I’ve spent most of my life, has given me a unique perspective on fashion and culture. Lima evokes my most precious memories of living next to the ocean with my family, which awakens my senses and brings me inspiration. On the other hand, Barcelona has been a space for innovation and collaboration. The fusion of these two worlds allows me to create designs that are both rooted and avant-garde, balancing respect for the past with a vision for the future.
5. Latest or Upcoming Projects: Give us a glimpse into your current endeavors and what lies ahead on your creative journey.
Currently, I am working on the second collection for Anemone, exploring sustainable techniques and experimenting with new materials and methods. As I also work as a fashion stylist, I balance both roles throughout my weeks. Additionally, I am collaborating with some creatives whose work I admire and find inspiring. Looking ahead, my goal is to establish Anemone as a platform for creative exploration, connecting with like-minded artists and sharing our stories through design.
