A grand, shimmering fountain designed by the renowned Rotterdam-based designer, Sabine Marcelis. Commissioned by the park's administrators, this striking water feature is not just a visual delight, but a testament to the power of creativity and sustainability.

The "Vondel Fountain, Stacked," as it's been christened, is a true feat of engineering and artistry. Crafted from recycled onyx slabs provided by the materials brand SolidNature, the fountain's structure is a study in simplicity and elegance. Marcelis, known for her minimalist approach and innovative use of materials, has once again captivated onlookers with her ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

As visitors stroll along the park's pathways, the fountain comes into view, its towering presence commanding attention. Constructed in a stacked, modular design, the fountain's appearance shifts and morphs depending on the observer's vantage point. Water cascades gracefully from two sides, creating a soothing, hypnotic rhythm that adds to the tranquil ambiance of the park.

"I am deeply fascinated by the ways in which materials can be manipulated to evoke powerful emotional responses and meaningful experiences," Marcelis explains. "Water has long been a source of inspiration for me, as it possesses the unique ability to transform and enliven any given space."

The "Vondel Fountain, Stacked" is not the designer's first foray into the world of water-based installations. Her previous collaborations with SolidNature, including projects at the iconic Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona and for luxury fashion house Fendi, have further honed her understanding of how water can be used to captivate and engage audiences.

"This latest project marks a significant milestone in our ongoing partnership with Sabine Marcelis," says David Mahyari, CEO of SolidNature. "By repurposing these high-quality onyx materials, we not only reduce waste but also showcase the timeless, enduring beauty of natural stone. It's a testament to our commitment to sustainable design and innovation."

The fountain's unveiling coincided with the recent Amsterdam Fashion Week, drawing the attention of both local and international visitors. Its temporary installation, slated to remain in the park for three months, is expected to become a must-see attraction, offering a unique and mesmerizing experience for all who encounter it.

As the water dances and the onyx shimmers, the "Vondel Fountain, Stacked" stands as a testament to the power of collaborative creativity and a celebration of the natural world's enduring beauty.
