Three custom cars designed by Nissan Technical College students will debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon this January, showcasing a mix of heritage and modern design thinking.

The NEO Skyline from Kyoto campus reimagines the iconic Kenmary Skyline using a CV35 Skyline Coupe base. Fourth-year students developed a custom pearl-effect paint called "Tomoaki Blue" that references the original Kenmary's metallic finish. The build preserves classic design elements while incorporating current automotive technology.

Their classmates created the Z Lealia, an experimental family vehicle built on the M35 Stagea platform. The project combines a Nissan LEAF rear section with widened fenders inspired by the Fairlady Z. Its "Ikazuchi Yellow" paintwork matches the RZ34 Z's signature color, creating a distinct sports wagon profile.

At Aichi campus, third-year students transformed a PU11 Bluebird Maxima into the Bluebird Kiwami in just ten weeks. The build required extensive metalwork and custom paint application in "Aurora Flare Blue Pearl". Their interpretation updates the sedan concept with premium materials and performance-oriented modifications.

The student projects demonstrate hands-on engineering and fabrication skills developed through Nissan's technical education program. All 3 vehicles will be on display from January 10-13 at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Technical Specifications:

  • NEO Skyline: CV35 platform, custom pearl paint, modified bodywork
  • Z Lealia: M35 Stagea base, LEAF integration, widebody construction
  • Bluebird Kiwami: PU11 chassis, complete panel rework, performance upgrades
