In this interview, we delve into the world of SUELEN MELO, who share her inspirations and unique perspectives.

1. Introduce Yourself to the Casawi Community: What drives you? What's your artistic vision, and what sets you apart from the crowd?
Well... Hi everyone, my name is Suelen, I've been working with culture in Brazil for almost 10 years and what drives me are the possibilities of each connection. Every encounter is a new chance to see the world through different eyes, to get to know other perspectives and for them to dialog with who I am, with what I love. Which is music.
I believe that evolving our way of seeing the world is very fulfilling, and having a wide view of what's going on around me is what sets my work apart. I'm always on the lookout for new trends, movements, scenes... The dance floor is an endless source of references if you know how to use it. Anywhere in the world.
2. City Inspirations: How has your city influenced your artistic path? Share how its streets, culture, and energy have molded your work.
I was born in Porto Alegre, a city in the south of Brazil, which, despite being very rich in cultural and political movements, is somewhat limited. Even so, the people, mates, loved ones and friends were crucial in giving me the personality I have nowadays. I learned a lot there and had the chance to develop many incredible projects with people I love.
I currently live in São Paulo, one of the largest cities in the world, which breathes culture. Everything here is very intense, alive, visceral. And the freaky movement of the city is what most inspires me here.
You have so many possibilities: places to eat, have fun, parties, exhibitions, theaters. Many artists from around the country and the world who have chosen to live here feed the city with their influences.
3. Creative Process: What fuels your creativity? Whether it's a ritual, a muse, or a moment of clarity, we're keen to learn.
Let's just say I'm a person of many rituals haha
I like to be connected with my spirituality, my aura, my orixas. I like to have candles, incense sticks and all sorts of things around to harmonize my space, so I can feel focused while I work. But I look for inspiration in everything: in the city, in people, in a record I listened to years ago and loved, in movies, on the dance floor whenever possible.
I learn a lot by going to parties and seeing what other people are playing, and watching my friends work inspires me a lot too. I love taking this home after a weekend and seeing how much it influences my research.
4. City Lifestyle and Art: How the places you lived influenced your career and work?
São Paulo, definitely.
Since before I lived here, I've had strong connections with artists from the city. I've had the chance to work with my references, my idols, and this has added a lot to my career. It's as if I'm now part of an ecosystem that is much more open to me, the engine of a machine. This vision has changed a lot of things in my career.
5. Latest or Upcoming Projects: Give us a glimpse into your current endeavors and what lies ahead on your creative journey.
My Boiler Room is coming up! I think it's an important milestone in any DJ's career and I'm so happy to have been invited to represent São Paulo in the edition I took part in. It's a way of showing the world how important it was for my growth to be part of this scene.
Maybe I'll be online when the article is published, I hope so.
In addition, I'm preparing for my first international gig, at the Popoyos Secret festival in Nicaragua.
I'm also starting to plan my first Eurotour. I'm really looking forward to seeing lots of clubs there.
