The hiatus began in May 2023 after reports emerged detailing Sachs' alleged mistreatment of his studio staff.

The sportswear giant recently issued a statement addressing the situation: "Tom has demonstrated and recommitted to fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity. Our work with Tom will continue, with the next chapter of NikeCraft upholding our shared commitment to team, product, and storytelling excellence."

The Sachs-Nike partnership, which began in 2012, has produced several popular sneaker designs. Notable releases include the original Mars Yard (2012), Mars Yard 2.0 (2017), Mars Yard Overshoe (2018), and the General Purpose Shoe (2022). The collaboration has also yielded unreleased prototypes, children's sizes, and even a bespoke Cole Haan wingtip.

However, the partnership faced scrutiny following a Curbed article that exposed the inner workings of Sachs' studio. The report described a demanding work environment governed by Sachs' "10 Bullets" rules. Allegations included instances of the artist shouting, throwing objects, and making inappropriate comments. Sachs was also accused of appearing on video calls in his underwear and making jokes about a "rape room."

Sachs commented on the renewed partnership through a Nike-issued statement: "I'm honored that we will continue to build together as a NikeCraft team and community. The Mars Yard 3.0 is in its final stage of development and is currently being wear-tested. I'm excited to share more soon."

This is not the first time Nike has resumed a partnership following controversy. After the tragic events at Travis Scott's Astroworld festival in November 2021, which resulted in multiple fatalities, Nike and Scott paused their collaboration for six months. They returned in May 2022 with new versions of the Air Max 1 and Air Trainer 1, marketed under the "CACT.US CORP" label.

While an exact release date for the Mars Yard 3.0 has not been announced, more information is expected to be revealed as 2025 approaches. The resumption of this partnership signals Nike's willingness to work with Sachs again, provided he adheres to their stated expectations of respect and inclusivity in the workplace.
