Returning to its Manchester roots, Umbro has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2025 "Northern Quarter" collection, which pays homage to the brand's hometown and its creative district.
With more than 100 years of influence in sportswear both on and off the field, Umbro is embracing its heritage for the new season. As the recent blokecore trend swept through fashion circles, the company has maintained its position at the forefront of archival football wear's resurgence, solidifying its place through partnerships with brands like Palace and Supreme.
The SS25 collection draws directly from Manchester's cultural influence. Named after the city's Northern Quarter district, the line balances Umbro's historical designs with contemporary elements, reimagining classic silhouettes for today's market. "Umbro has always had Manchester in its DNA", notes Helene Hope, Head of Global Brand Marketing. "This collection is no different, taking inspiration from the spirit of the Northern Quarter to make sportswear classics relevant for streetwear fanatics today."
Key pieces include the Zip Off Sleeve Wind Jacket, which references the England football team's track jacket from the 1998 World Cup while adding modern features such as removable sleeves and a hidden hood. The collection also features collared jerseys, long-sleeve tops, and '90s-inspired Washed Drill Top and Washed Diamond Drill Sweat pieces in washed cotton with functional pockets. The color scheme—predominantly white, red, black, and charcoal gray—references Umbro's most recognizable historical designs.
