Modena, Italy - Modena Automobili, a renowned automotive restoration and customization company, has unveiled its latest project, the MA-01, a reimagined version of the iconic 1990s Maserati Biturbo-Shamal.

The Maserati Biturbo-Shamal, originally produced from 1989 to 1996, was a sports car that captured the hearts of enthusiasts with its distinctive Italian design and performance. Modena Automobili has taken on the challenge of reviving this classic model, incorporating modern upgrades and technology while preserving its essential character.

The project has been in development for over 1,000 hours, with the Modena team collaborating extensively with engineering firms to ensure the successful transformation of the Biturbo-Shamal. At the heart of the MA-01 is a 500hp 3L V6 twin-turbo engine, co-engineered by Ferrari and Maserati, which is sourced from the Maserati Ghibli S. This powerplant, paired with a specially calibrated ZF eight-speed sequential automatic transmission, allows the MA-01 to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 177 mph.

To accommodate the advanced Ghibli S powertrain, the original Maserati Biturbo chassis has undergone extensive scanning, strengthening, and coating processes. This ensures that the MA-01 retains the signature character of the Shamal while benefiting from enhanced stability and safety features.

Modena Automobili plans to produce a limited run of 33 examples of the MA-01, with each model expected to start at $600,000 USD. The project is currently in progress, and the company is working diligently to bring this reimagined Maserati Biturbo-Shamal to life.

This endeavor by Modena Automobili showcases the company's dedication to preserving automotive heritage while seamlessly integrating modern technology and performance. The MA-01 promises to be a stunning tribute to the Maserati Biturbo-Shamal, captivating both passionate enthusiasts and collectors alike.
