Following their 2023 partnership, designer Nicole McLaughlin and Vans have released a second collaboration featuring the Slip-On RS with enhanced storage features and outdoor-ready details.

The redesigned silhouette incorporates functional elements inspired by vintage hiking equipment, most notably a cargo pouch positioned over the toe box with adjustable nylon straps. This practical addition mirrors traditional trekking backpacks while maintaining the classic Vans profile.

McLaughlin explained her approach in an official statement: "Creating pieces that can be multi-purpose, but also fun has always been my goal. I was inspired by vintage hiking packs from the '70s and the aesthetic of outdoor gear from that era for the collection".

The shoes feature uppers made with 40% recycled canvas treated with water-resistant PFC-free DWR coating. A lugged tread pattern on the outsoles provides reliable traction across various surfaces. The collection offers two colorway options: a monochromatic natural canvas version and a charcoal variant with black accents.

Both designs include vintage-styled co-branding elements, such as a Vans N.M. Rucksack patch above the storage pouch and wordmarks printed on the insoles.

The collection extends beyond footwear with complementary accessories, including ankle socks featuring patch pockets and a multipurpose Rucksack that functions as a climbing chalk bag.

This release builds on McLaughlin's growing portfolio of footwear collaborations. After her initial Vans Slip-On VP VR3 LX in 2023, she has worked with Merrell, HOKA, and PUMA. The designer is known for creative upcycling projects, having crafted items like a jacket made from PUMA goalkeeper gloves and a stool constructed from discarded JanSport backpacks.

The Vans x Nicole McLaughlin collection launches February 26 on McLaughlin's website, followed by availability through Vans' online store and select retailers on February 27.
