Two decades after Marc Jacobs enlisted Pharrell Williams and NIGO to design Louis Vuitton's Millionaire sunglasses, both creatives have taken different paths. Williams now leads the fashion house's menswear division, while NIGO, at KENZO's helm, has become a defining voice in contemporary fashion. Their Fall/Winter 2025 menswear collection, presented at Paris's Cour Carrée du Louvre, reflects this journey.
The show space, designed by Wonderwall studio, featured display cases holding curated artifacts from JOOPITER auction house. This setting provided context for a collection that merged early 2000s streetwear with traditional tailoring, connecting French elegance with Japanese craftsmanship.
NIGO's HUMAN MADE philosophy of building future fashion on historical foundations shaped the collection's direction. Pieces included kimono-style blazers, archival trunks, and workwear influenced by America's Ura-Hara movement. The LVERS concept appeared throughout, visible in denim monogram pieces, reimagined Damier patterns, and a new flora-fauna motif. Colored bags complemented the collection's blend of street style and formal wear.
The collection demonstrates both designers' progression from their earlier work with the brand. Williams has moved beyond his Virginia Beach roots to embrace luxury fashion, while NIGO continues to refine his distinctive approach to combining cultural elements. Their shared creative vision produced garments that reference fashion history while establishing new directions for Louis Vuitton's menswear.
Technical details featured prominently, with Japanese textile techniques applied to French luxury materials. The show included modern interpretations of Louis Vuitton's signature travel pieces, updated through both designers' contemporary lens. Archive-inspired elements appeared alongside new design concepts, creating a dialogue between the house's heritage and its future direction.
