Maserati has partnered with Fragment Design founder Hiroshi Fujiwara to create the inaugural vehicle in its new Fuoriserie By series. The collaboration marks an extension of the Italian automaker's existing Fuoriserie customization program, which allows clients to personalize their vehicles.
Fujiwara selected the MC20 Cielo as his canvas, producing two distinct versions that reflect his minimalist design philosophy. The first model features a "Nero Vulcano" black exterior, while its counterpart comes in "Bianco Audace" white, creating a deliberate contrast between the pair.
The designer introduced a notable change to Maserati's traditional aesthetics by replacing the brand's Trident emblem on the rear tonneau cover with Fragment's lightning bolt motif. This detail appears in a matte finish that stands out against the glossy exterior of both vehicles.
The interior maintains the exterior's monochromatic theme, with black leather seats featuring white contrast stitching and Trident logo embroidery on the headrests. The same leather treatment extends to the sport steering wheel and armrest, while an authentication plate sits between the headrests. Both models retain the MC20 Cielo's Formula 1-derived V6 Nettuno engine.
Klaus Busse, Maserati's Head of Design, explained the vision behind the Fuoriserie By series: "Our wish here is for clients to express their personality and passion by creating their very own Maserati. Just like Hiroshi, everyone can choose from a wide range of personalization features from our Fuoriserie collections or take more individual journeys to design true one-of-a-kind rolling sculptures."
